We Have Reopened Edo APC Secretariat And That Puts Every Insinuation Of Invading Service Of PDP Election Petition To Rest – Erhahon
FREEPRESS – Comrade Godwin Erhahon former Chairman, NUJ, Edo State, now Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress, Edo State in an interview with FREEPRESS said the party Secretariat has being reopened and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has transformed Edo State to a modern City and that Mr. Godwin Obaseki will derail from Oshiomhole’s track record.
Excerpt:
Q: If I was a child of about 12 years old, what would you have told me that your party have being able to do in Edo State and what do you intend to do more?
A: A lot, what I would have told you is what I will even tell you as an adult now. We met this State in a very poor and retched situation. This Airport road was even a dead trap and so many spots up to the spot around between the Post Office and Oba Palace then Ogiesoba and Clifford junction in particular, it was terrible, above all, it was very narrow but if you were here 10 years ago and you come today you wouldn’t believe that is the same road and so many other roads, the area where Dr. Ogbemudia is, you go back to the New Benin area. In fact the Benin was known to be the ancient city that could not modernized.
Because you mentioned child, let me also specifically refer you to the structures in schools, primary and secondary. I wish you go to the schools and see the structures we inherited from the PDP government and see the ones we have constructed there now you will see the wide difference. The government deliberately left the old building as part of the PDP legacies to compare with what it is now. Unfortunately, those who are not interested in the prosperity of others don’t want to acknowledge what we have done. If you go to the Central Hospital, the buildings that was there for over 100 years ago some of them have being replaced with magnificent modern building that can stand the standard anywhere in the world and so those are just the few we can mention but on the whole it is difficult for us to mention to you even in a full day all the roads we have constructed in the State across the three Senatorial District, so no government have done even half or 10% of what we have done, no previous government have done it.
Asking of what we are going to do; we are going to improve on what we have done in the past eight years and our improvement now will also lead to diversification of efforts and focus, we are going toencourage industrialization of Edo State to create job opportunities for our teeming youths that is youth empowerment through direct and indirect employment, so business opportunities are also going to be created and a lot more.
Q: Election has come and gone, what is your impression about the election?
A: Well the impression was that INEC that conducted election has since announced the results, it is also declare that it was a hitch-free election. We are winners and want to be magnanimous in our victory.
Q: In spite of all that happened, your party has extended a hand of fellowship to everybody, do you think the opposition party will accept this hand of fellowship?
A: Well if they have accepted it they wouldn’t have gone to court, we are aware that they are already in court and so are also meeting them
in court.
Q: There is a section in the State particularly the Esan who feel cheated, as the Publicity Secretary of the party, do you agree with the Esan people that they have being cheated out of the political equation, and what do you think Mr. Godwin Obaseki should do to bring about reapproachment between the party and the Esan people?
A: Well in the first place unless they can go into specifics about how and where they were marginalized or shortchanged one will now be in a position to finalize but all we can say is that the APC government has constructed more roads in Esan land than any previous government, we also know that we have built more schools in Esan than any previous government except that of Prof. Ambrose Ali that created more secondary schools and also established the Ambrose Alli University, AAU
Q: Just last week, it was held that your party secretariat was shutdown, what led to the closure?
A: Well that is now history, I am happy that you are interviewing me now in my own office at the party Secretariat that tells you that the secretariat has being reopened. The question of what led to the shutdown is now history and at this level, our focus is to move forward.
Q: The administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will soon come to an end, how will you evaluate his administration and achievements so far?
A: I have told you how he has transformed Edo State from a very static state and old capital City that was so dilapidated and shabby to a very modern City and so it is across the State; that sums up the description of his achievement, a government that has transformed the State beyond expectation
Q: Come November 12th, 2016 Mr. Godwin Obaseki will be taking over the mantle of leadership, how do you see his government and what area do you think he will be able to improve on what the APC has done?
A: Well he was our candidate in the election and contested in our platform, he won in our platform, he is becoming our Governor, and he is continuing from where the outgoing administration has stopped. I told you earlier we are going to focus on diversification both in the area of project and then we are going to create job opportunities through encouragement of establishment of industries. But in details, there is no need to go into details of it because all those will be
unfolded on that day of the inauguration.
