Edo 2024: Prominent Obidient, Nwaokobia Jnr, Endorses Bar. Asuelimen (Ai) For Governor, Gives Reasons
PROMINENT member of the Obidient Movement and outspoken social crusader, Prof Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr, has given reasons why he threw his weight behind Dr Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the September governorship election in Edo State.
In a lengthy post on his X account, @NwaokobiaJnr, on Sunday, the convener of Country First Movement, detailed how he arrived at his choice of Dr Ighodalo. He revealed that in recent time, he had been inundated with calls and messages about who he was supporting for governor in the Edo State governorship election.
Nwaokobia Jnr, who is also a lawyer and a columnist, wrote: ” I have been inundated with calls and messages about my choice of candidate for the high office of Governor of Edo State. I have X-rayed the 3 leading candidates…
Barr. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party.
Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC.
Barr. Asue Ighodalo of the PDP.
” Since I have elected to predicate my Politics on COMPETENCY, CAPACITY, CHARACTER, and On JUSTICE, EQUITY and FAIRNESS above the banal and fleeting confines of partisanship, here is my position…

Describing Ighodalo in superlative adjectives, Prof Nwaokobia Jnr added that: “I have chosen to support the Most Credible, the Most Competent, the Most Capable, and thanks to providence his candidacy meets the call for EQUITY, JUSTICE and FAIRNESS in Edo State.”
Nwaokobia Jnr said his choice was in sync with the philosophy and values of the Obidient Movement.
“The choice I have made is consistent with the PHILOSOPHY of the #ObidientMovement, it is predicated on the same values for which we supported Peter Gregory Obi, and Alex Otti. It goes beyond partisanship, and shall remain the defining margins of patriotism and statesmanship.”
Reiterating his decision in capital letters for emphasis, Nwaokobia Jnr stated that:

He argued that if it comes to comparison, “Asue Ighodalo is PROFOUNDLY more Competent, Capable, Credible and Proven in Private and Public Life,” than the rest candidates.
