The Leadership Crisis In The Labour Party: Need For Humility, Patriotism, And Reconciliation

It’s no longer news that the Labour Party is currently the target of political rabble rousers and jobbers at the highest level of Party formations in Nigeria. A curious bystander would be deeply confused by these supposed leaders of the party who although are serving different disciplinary terms for personal infringements are now championing redressing of wrongdoings in the Party, but with the WRONG WEAPONS! They even have the affontry to make outlandish claims and make ridiculous ultimatums. Even then, there was a time when all these leaders had high aspirations for the party, individually and collectively. So let’s examine our hindsight, to get better insight to today and deeper foresight for tomorrow.

There’s no gainsaying the fact that the Labour Party’s 2023 electoral sunami, which was described as structureless and shishiless, yet upsetting and upstaging the political parties of timber and calibre, of caterpillar and bulldozer, is definitely the most significant political organisation in ALL of Nigeria’s political history. Therefore, at this point we must remember the sayings of the wise that if a dog bites a man, it’s a dangerous occurrence, but when a man bites a dog, then clearly both of them have become MAD. Therefore the present call from well-meaning individuals and groups in the Party that what is urgently needed should be stooping to conquer and adopting the wisdom of easing the madcow out of the China shop, is the clarion call!

The Elders should be rallied together to Brooker Peace and Reconciliation, as well as appealing to all the gladiators to sheath their swords in the interest of the NEW NIGERIA we are working for and by the grace of God is already in sight. History will be very unkind to those who CAN’T see the bigger picture in the aspirations of this NEW generation of Nigerians and who for selfish reasons want to push the hand of the clock of Nigeria’s new nationhood back to the dark days. Let’s put an end to ALL the litigations because the Courts cannot and don’t run political parties, and what the negotiation table cannot achieve, fighting in the Law Courts would not produce for any party, if not more crises!

We appeal to all the wise and discerning to call a truce and end all belligerence, so that we would celebrate a win win as OBI/DATTI are coming very soon!!!
