The Coalition of Rivers State Leaders of Thoughts is a group established and peopled by opinion moulders, elders and leaders of thoughts from diverse backgrounds in Rivers State who share same vision and represent informed and enlightened opinions on issues of interest as it affects our dear State.

According to the statement, High Chief Sunnie Chukumele said, we lend our voice and contribute to issues based on conviction. We also act as vanguards engaged in agenda setting, feedback, propagation and promotion of good governance. We also represent as the conscience of the people of our dear Rivers State, he said.
According to high Chief, the leaders of thoughts have indeed found it very compelling, as it has also become too necessary as a responsible and conscientious State centric and people centered organization and as well as vanguard of our dear State to cry out in the face of an unacceptable political vandalism and rascality which is threatening the very foundation of the State with possible cataclysmic consequences capable of affecting the peace of the Niger Delta and indeed Nigeria as a whole. the statement reads
The leaders of thoughts consequently uses the instrumentality of the Press as the Forth Estate of the Realm to cause their cries to be heard by the world, hereby state as follows in the statement;
1. That we begin by appreciating the governor of the State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for working assiduously hard to work for peace by embracing and working with the Presidential Peace Accord of 2023, and to state that it is in recognition of this that the governor has won awards and honours within the State and Nigeria.
2. That we use this medium to thank the governor for attending to the welfare of the citizens of the State, particularly the civil servants, the planned employments into the civil service to boost the human resources and capacity of the entire civil and public service sector in the State. Also is the governor’s economic empowerment largesse which will boost the micro business potentials of the indigenes and inhabitants of Rivers State.
3. CORSLOT further recognizes the governor’s attention on infrastructural development of the State with his continuation of projects he inherited from previous administrations, and indeed his bold initiatives of new ones. These come with spiraling advantages.
4. We however wish to cry out on the activities of political gladiators of the State origin who seem to have allowed reason to take flight judging from their activities. Of particular note is the activities of the Rt. Hon, Martins Amewhule led House of Assembly who were recently pronounced as no longer legitimate by the court. Prior to this development, Rivers State unfortunately fell into a pitiable and regrettable situation of having 2 Assemblies.
It is our opinion that Rivers State definitely would not have been in its current political shape had Rt. Hon. Martin Amewhule played the sacred role posterity bestowed on him. Pitiably under him, Rivers State and indeed the world saw a Legislative arm of Government vehemently out to frustrate the Executive arm with all sorts of negative actions against the governor and the executive arm of the government of Rivers State.
Had Rt. Hon. Martin Amewhule seen the State as sacred, he would have mediated in whatever were the issues between our former governor, His Excellency, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike. Amewhue failed woefully to play a stabilizing role which his exalted office gave him ample role to play.
5. We would at this juncture admonish our son, the former governor and present Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, HE, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike-CON to have a rethink on the political imbroglio in Rivers State, as it is only him in our thinking and that of most watchers that can quell the storm. Let reason prevail.
6. CORSLOT wishes to advice trouble entrepreneurs and eye service politicians of Rivers State origin to take note that power belongs to the God Almighty and the people. Rivers people are taking note of the actions of these political actors. Rivers State is owned by Rivers people and not self seeking politicians.
7. May we also use this platform to pray the governor of the State to take immediate steps to fill the cabinet with men and women who have the capacity to add value to the governance of or dear Rivers State.
8. May we finally thank all the men and women of goodwill, both within the State and outside, that has contributed in no small measure in saving the people and government of Rivers State. Of particular mention is the President, Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who initially initiated a political settlement of the conflict in Rivers State. Others are the Chief Rufus Ada-George led Rivers State Elders Group, HE, Dr. Peter Odili and Justice Mary Odili (Rtd), the Clergy, and other well meaning non-political interest groups who have volunteered their time and resources to speak out in the face of the threat to the peace and existence of Rivers State.
We call out on all citizens from the point of view of the philosopher not to fold their arms while “Rome burn”. All hands must be on the deck to save Rivers State, high Chukumele said.
