Rainy Season: Borno LGA Chair Releases New Tractors, Assorted Improved Seed Varieties For Farmers

TO ensure food security and sufficiency, the Executive Chairman of Hawul Local Government Area in Borno State, Hon. Hussaini Malgwi, has directed the immediate distribution of tractors and assorted bags of improved maize varieties to farmers across the 12 wards.

Flagging off the exercise yesterday in Azare, the Council headquarters, Hon. Hussaini, said Governor Professor Babagana Zulum who is an Agricultural Engineer by profession, has been given the desired support to the sector to enable citizens have better means of livelihood.

He said, as the rainy season sets in, Hawul, which is an agrarian society, will continue to key into Governor Zulum’s initiative aimed at providing sufficient food for consumption and economic development.

His words: This administration is committed to the plights and aspirations of our people. As the 2024 rainy season begins, we assure you that fertilizers and other farming inputs will be provided and distributed to our farmers across board.

“Today, we are starting with free distribution of 500 bags of improved maize varieties which are disease-resistant and favourable to climate change.

“Likewise, 12 tractors were deployed to each of the 12 Wards at subsidized rate to enable farmers tilt or cultivate their farmlands for this year’s cropping season.” Malgwi said.

The Chairman therefore commended Governor Zulum for the maximum support given to Hawul Local Government Area, and appealed to his people to continue giving their total support and cooperation to the present administration, that is determined to use its scarce resources by providing dividends of democracy at all levels.
