Prince Agba Lauds Edo NUJ Leadership

THE Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by its Chairman, Mr. Festus Alenkhe, has been lauded for the innovative drives to reposition the union by Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, Minister of State for budget and National Planning.

This goodwill message to the Edo NUJ’s leadership was made by Mr. Tony Erha, who represented Mr. Agba, as he handed a cash donation to the body, at the secretariat of the union, located in the GRA district of Benin, the state capital.

Whilst handing over the donation, to support the ongoing renovation work of the union’s secretarial complex, to Mr. Alenkhe, Erha said that Mr. Agba, being an innovative person, was very impressed with the high level of physical improvement going on in the Edo NUJ centre, as well as the other moves to elevate the union and its journalist members, towards the rapid attainment of the watchdog principle, which the union and journalists stand for.

Hon Agba, the Minister of the superintendent Federal Ministry, who is the base of national planning and financial designing, also said that the Alenkhe’s worthy example, if emulated was capable of assisting journalists in the country to carry out their usual duties, whilst pledging his Ministry’s supports for NUJ and the practice countrywide.

Flanked by Mr. Andy Egbon, Secretary of the union and some other executive members, Mr. Alenkhe thanked Prince Agba for the donation as he also commended him for his usual love for the union and Nigerian journalists, saying further that the support of his like was bound to encourage a more effect journalism in the country.

The visit to the union secretariat also involved the seeing of the renovated library and other facilities by Mr. Erha, who is also a journalist.
