Nigerian Content Development And Monitoring Board (NCDMB): NGO Gets Leave To Challenge The Board Secret Recruitment
FOI Counsel a specialized Freedom of Information law litigation and research firm is assisting Incorporated Trustees of Citizens Awareness against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative (CACASVI) to drag the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to court for failure to release Certified True Copies of a nominal roll of staff of the board containing only the first name, sex, grade level and state of origin. The applicant also sought for resolution from the board approving employment and evidence of job advertisement.

CACASVI in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/473/2024 against the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is seeking a declaration that the failure of the respondent to release certified true copies of requested information to the applicant is illegal, unlawful, oppressive and vexatious and also an order that the respondent to release the information sought
The Federal High Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja has granted the ex parte application of CACASVI allowing it to commence a judicial review of the failure of the board to disclose the record of its recruitment and staffing. The NGO had earlier forwarded a request letter which was not responded to by the board wherein it stated that it be given an additional 7 days to liaise with the board to disclose the record of recruitment but outrightly turned down the request for nominal roll. The application was commenced by the FOI Counsel team made up of President Aigbookhan, Godspower Eroga, Solomon Oritsegbemi, Ayodele Otuakhena, Edose Ihimekpen and Ifeoma Enwere, Esq. Hon. Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha of the Federal High Court granted the reliefs sought and ordered that the Originating Summons be filed within 7 days. .
