•Says, ‘they’re right people for the job’
The organisers of Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) and Nollywood Europe Golden Award (NEGA) have felicitated the Director General, National Film and Video Censors Board, Dr Shaibu Hussieni and Managing Director, Nigeria Film Corporation, star actor, Ali Nuhu on their recent appointments by President Bola Tinubu.
In a message of congratulations signed by the founder and festival director, NFFG/NEGA, Isaac Izoya, the two bodies commended the president for appointing “the right people for the job”.
The statement reads: “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our worthy ambassadors, Dr Shaibu Hussieni and Ali Nuhu on their recent appointment as Director General of National Film and Video Censors Board and Nigeria Film Corporation respectively. We also commend President Bola Tinubu for his choice of putting square pegs in square holes in the appointment of Hussieni and Nuhu.”
Hussieni is a NEGA awardee, who for many years, has proven that he understands the film art and its progressive development in Nigeria. He has contributed so much either as a journalist or policy maker in the Nigerian film realm.
Also, Hussieni has been head of jury at several film festivals including African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), a contribution that earned him NEGA award in 2014.
For Ali Nuhu, he has exhibited artistry in his chosen trade and has been recognised for so doing. The thespian has featured in uncountable number of productions that got him NEGA award in 2023.
“It is our belief that President Bola Tinubu has made one of the best choices ever. We are very proud of your achievements and accomplishments, which we so recognised many years past. We also believe your appointment will contribute to the next level that the Nigerian film industry is headed,” Izoya declared.
