SOME years ago,Barr Asue Ighodalo,the People’s Democratic Party candidate for the Edo 2024 made a rare demonstration of egalitarian leadership, when he convoked a fraternal congress — Ewohimi Kingdom. It was the first of its kind, and gave his people a novel platform to have a têtê-a-têtê with their son that birthed the construction of some major roads, payment for electricity bills, provision of teachers for Okaigben secondary school,bore holes, grants to traders etc.
Barr Asue Ighodalo in his character as a silent achiever had meticulously provided a lot for his people of Ewohimi kingdom.
All these, he did without a single publicity. Not everyone blows their own trumpets.Barr Asue Ighodalo is allergic to praise singers. His conscience, much more than his ego drives him in public offices.
It’s obvious that some selfish interests masquerading as social advocates sponsored their media warriors to discredit the efforts and innovative leadership provided in this direction by the PDP candidate.
It is election season, and obligatory opposition APC media has embarked the road to score cheap political points. But their hatchet job was dead on arrival. In poorly scripted articles,the APC psychopaths under the pseudonym of CHRIS OSA tried to gaslight our people against Barr Asue Ighodalo.
Barr Asue Ighodalo is the candidate of PDP for the Edo 2024. He has the blessings of Edo state Elders-of-thought, the working class, the traders, traditional rulers and everyday people of Edo state.His emergence was seen as a just compensation for his competence represented in the efficient leadership he has provided in both past and present capacities.
So seeing that they had nothing to market their unpopular candidate, the motley of opposition parties in Edo latched onto cheap blackmail against the people’s candidate (Barr Asue Ighodalo). Their target was to pitch his reputation against the people. Campaign of calumny has begun in earnest. But such falsehood can’t sail far in the waters of reality before truth overtakes it.Barr Asue Ighodalo, like Abraham Lincoln, is “a firm believer in the people.” He believes that “if given the truth, the people can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”
Edo people have known the facts, they can’t be dissuaded by irrationalities, nor will they be given to inanities.
Edo had never been plunged into political impasse as these few propagandists wish it. That’s why the State Governor retained its nickname, “WAKE & SEE.” Our leaders have always allowed the will of the people to prevail.
Just like Publilius Syrus: “art has a double face, of expression and illusion, just like science has a double face: the reality of error and the phantom of truth.” In this case, when the naysayers pull off the veil of error that is covering their sight, they will see the corporeal reality: “Barr Asue Ighodalo is our choice!”
