FREEPRESS – Edo State governorship aspirant, Arc Ilenre Austin Emuan has pledged to lay a solid economic development plan for the state if he emerged as winner in the forthcoming election.
He said his vision for Edo people is to put in place a 25-year solid economic development rolling plan that will ensure the state becomes one of the five most industrialised economies (states) and investment destination in Nigeria.
Emuan who hails from Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo Central Senatorial district disclosed that he will ensure a participatory democracy, promote equity, social justice, shared vision, abundant opportunities and possibilities, driven on knowledge and technology based economy as the driving principle of state policy.
A chartered architect, Emuan stressed that his Industrial and investment blueprint is an immediate policy of projects and programmes aimed at wealth creation and profitable jobs; tagged: “100% wealth and jobs creation”, if voted as governor.
He said his administration will grow the economy and spur all round industrialization by democratizing investment process; modernizing the state’s infrastructures; and tapping the intellectual and creative minds of Edo people wherever they are.
The aspirant explained that his short and medium objective has been carefully worked out via phase by phase policy, project and programmes viv-a-vis Nigeria’s current political-economy reality.
“The model is unique to Edo people. The ideal is a measurable and achievable asymmetrical economic state inspired and driven growth activities metrical sequence based on Edo people’s current bicultural perception and socio-economic experiences, and human capacity development level.”
He identified some prospects of Edo as very rich in natural endowment which include: multiple vegetation zones, plentiful rain, surface water and underground water resources and moderate climatic extremes that is good for production of diverse food and cash crops.
“Edo state is not just a geographically mistake, but a people divinely designed, prepared and destined to be the catalyst that will ignite the expected consevquential change that will make the South-South geopolitical zone the strongest economic.”
