Borno Council Chair Confirms 3 Dead, Many Injured, Over 500 Residential Houses Razed Down In Gajigana Fire Outbreaks

THE Executive Chairman of Magumeri local government area of Borno State, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir a.k.a Bukar Yaro has sympathized with victims of fire incident at Gajiganna ward.

The Chairman while confirming the incident which took place separately on Wednesday and Thursday said, “three persons were burnt beyond recognition with several others sustained injuries, even as over 500 residential houses were completely razed down during the inferno.”

Recall that within the week, another similar fire incident broke out at Muna Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, Camp in Maiduguri resulted to loss of lives and property worth millions of naira.

Speaking to our Correspondent on Friday after he visited the scene of the incident in Gajiganna to assess the extent of damages, the Chairman assured the community to engage other stakeholders to ensure relief items are provided to those affected and displaced.

The Chairman said: “I appeal to our communities to exercise extreme caution, especially during the hot season which poses an increased fire risk.

” I urge the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist the affected community with relief materials as soon as possible.

“In time like this, especially in this month of Ramadan period, let us come together as a community to support one another, and demonstrate resilience in the face of this disaster,” Yaro said.

The Chairman was accompanied to Gajigana by the Vice Chairman, Fantami Mallam Musa, Council Secretary, Ali Lawan Kyari, All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman of Magumeri, Alh. Kaka Mohammed, Elder statesman, Alh Mallam Bulin, Director of planning and research, Suleiman Abba Askira, Information unit among others Stakeholders.
