FREEPRESS – Ahead of 2016 gubernatorial election in Edo State, the Benin Leadersof Th ought, BLT, a non partizan group, has called on the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to allow the people determine their next governor to ensure who ever emerge build on already established legacies of the out going governor.
The disclosure was made in a press conference organized to express their displeasure over the rumour making the rounds that the comrade governor has endorsed a candidate for the guber-election this year.
It will be recalled that in the penultimate week, the State Governor had allegedly endorsed the head of his administrative Economic Team, Mr Godwin Obaseki which has not gone down well with some of the aspirants particularly the deputy governor, Pius Odubu who many thought would outrightly continue from were his boss stops.
The Chairman, Prince Edun Akenzua while speaking to newsmen, commended the state governor for his developmental strides, pointing out that what he has achieved within his spell in office are visible, adding that, the governor like every other citizens has the inalienable right to support any aspirant but must allow the people determine their next governor.
“We invites you here today to tell Nigerians through you the position of the BLT, vis-a-vis the rumour making the rounds that his Excellency the governor of the state has endorsed a candidate for the gubernatorial election. We are happy about the roads, the schools, and the hospital oshiomhole government has built. Nevertheless, governor Adams Oshiomhole like other citizens, has the right to support any aspirant of his choice even though that the right would be exercised in a manner that also respects the rights of other people to freely choose who will govern them. The people should be given free hands to determine their next governor”, he enthused.
Prince Akenzua however, refuted any fear of the return of godfatherism to Edo State, adding that, Oshiomhole has since wiped out the scourge from our clime.
