20-year Old Man In Court For Allegedly Stealing Items Worth N420,500

THE police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Martins Kelinho, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing some items worth N420,500.

Kelinho, whose address was not provided, is facing three-count charge of conspiracy, house breaking and stealing, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large on April 15 at 8 p.m. at Gemede Ajido, Ebute Olofin area of Badagry.
Okuiomose said that the defendant broke into the house of one Mr Omomimi Kolawole and stole the items, all valued at N420,500.

He said that the defendant was caught by some neighbours who handed him over to the police.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 411, 308 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Daniel Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Aina, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 21 for mention. (NAN)
