“United States Should Publish The Names Of Those Undermining Democracy In Nigeria” – Spokesman, LPPCC Edo State

THE United States of America has been urged to publish the names of those politicians undermining democracy in Nigeria.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Spokesman and Chairman, Media & Publicity Committee, Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LPPCC), Edo State, Comrade Igbotako Nowinta, which was made available to journalists in Benin, Edo State, Nigeria, on Friday 27th of January 2023.
Comrade Igbotako Nowinta said the recently imposed visa ban on some politicians in Nigeria, for undermining democracy, which was announced by Antony Blinken, Secretary of State, United States, was not enough.
According to the full text of the press release:
“In as much as we welcome the recent visa ban imposed by the United States of America via the statement credited to Antony Blinken, Secretary of State saying:” Visa restrictions on specific individuals in Nigeria for undermining the democratic process in a recent election”, we make bold to declare that, such move was not enough to prevent other desperate politicians from criminally and violently disturbing the February 25th Presidential election in Nigeria.
” We want a situation where the names of such Nigerian politicians would be made public, for us all to know them; knowing them will automatically send a good signal to all and sundry that, the next general elections will not be business as usual for professional election usurpers.
“With what we saw recently in Katsina State, where some paid political hoodlums unleashed violence against the convoy of Peter Obi, who was in the state for political campaigns; the continuous tragic and senseless killings of people in Southern Kaduna State; burning of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) buildings, mostly in the southeastern part of Nigeria etc, we are indeed worried that stricter measures should be generated against enemies of Nigerian state.
” We plead with the United States to put on an iron-fist to punch those undermining democracy in Nigeria; those trying to re-engineer the locomotives of election rigging and violence; vote buying and selling etc, must be fished and forced out by publishing their names.
“It is hard to believe that our country is in the grip of political cartels who have vowed to undermine the coming general elections; we see it in their unguarded utterances and actions; even as they are trying to tighten the space of political accomodations.
” As we call on the United States to make public the names of individuals undermining democracy in Nigeria, we ‘Obidients’ will never allow them to fracture the democratic process; those who have shown repeatedly that they don’t have the political skill to find the eye of the needle must not be voted for on February 25th, 2023.
“Who says we are not going to hand over the key of our political destiny to Peter Obi?Eternal vigilance remains our watch word!
