The leadership of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, has described the allegations of Maladministration, untold decadence in facilities and poor state of hospital by the Association of Residents Doctors, ARD, of the Teaching Hospital Branch as complete tissue of lies.
The counter press statements depicts the hospital management reactions to recent press publication titled ” Exposing the Staff and patients Situation at UBTH”, purportedly acknowledge by its President, Association of Residents Doctors, Dr. Owen Omoregbe.
If you recall in the penultimate weeks, the association had voraciously accused the management of complacency in its managerial activities which has evidently led to alleged war of attrition propagated by those the management accused of practicing tribal agenda to unseat the incumbent Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the Teaching hospital.
Speaking at a press briefing, the chief medical director, CMD, UBTH, Prof. Michael. O. Ibadin debunked the allegations while stressing that the publication was geared towards disrupting the management in its activities, adding that, the ultimate goal of the cabal masquerading as ARD EXCO and their sponsors is to discord the relationship between its members thereby, cause the CMD to vacate his position.
He said, “this unfortunate press release by Association of Residents Doctors is nothing but a complete tissue of lies. The management wishes to state in clear terms that the publication is malicious with the intent to put Management to disrepute, cause unnecessary interest to be focused on the hospital, cause disaffection among staff, clientele and paint the CMD, and members of his management as incompetent. It is a war of attrition being actively sponsored by individuals among them consultants with tribal agenda who see themselves as inappropriately placed to succeed the current CMD. The ARD president has unfortunately submitted himself as a tool for this cabal who has never hidden their disdain for the current management and will stop at nothing to rubbish the CMD. The management had in the past refrained from joining with individuals or group seeking to pull down the CMD; But feels compelled to react to the current onslaught to set the record straight.
Prof Ibadin however, noted that the author of the article alluded to the fact that the hospital fee are exorbitant , stressing that, the Board of Management would have to approve before implementing which makes funds paucity to address their allowances.
He further explained that the claims by ARD holds no water as his management led team since inception have upgraded in all ramification to build a veritable standard in the area of staff employment, facility and human capacity development.
The UBTH Boss, concluded by urging them to come out and engage in dialogue rather than resorting to blackmail, harassment and intimidations that will deter public interest adding that, the patients interest must be put into consideration before other issues.
