Resignation Of Aspiring Aspirants From Edo Guber Race, Labour Party Clears The Air
OUR Attention as been drawn to the resignation letters of one or two Gubernatorial aspiring aspirants under the Labour Party ticket recently; namely Pastor Azemeh Azena, Dorry Okojie and Mr Kingsley Ulinfun towards the September, 2024 Governorship race in Edo State. This clarification is necessary so that the observing public can be better informed.
We have read the persons’ concerned resignations letters in the social media, alluding to frivolous claims of suffocation of justice, equity and fairness, or words to that effect, without substantial proves as to how they become victims of the listed allegations.
It’s needless to say that these aforementioned individuals foresaw their impending failures in the yet to be conducted primary election slated for 22nd of this month. Their outdated emotional methods of knowing the gender from an unhatched egg is one of the strategies of political dabblers and attention seekers who are distraught by their inability to win a contest in a democratic space.
First, what makes aspiring individual an aspirant is by obtaining expression of interest form, as well as purchase of nomination form which none of these three persons flaunting their resignation letters on the cyber space ever did.
In the case of Pastor Azemhe Azena who left the party and went to town with false allegation of being prevented from campaigning in Akoko-Edo by the Ward Chairman, he has since had himself to blame for dealing with outsiders, instead of the party’s established structures.
Belabouring the fact that the popular Pastor is a victim of external forces that are not in touch with the party structures at the State and Local Government levels will amount to a waste of our previous time.
These sweeping claims of injustice, fairness and equity would have been viewed as serious allegations and violation of the party’s Constitution if any of these yet-to-be-aspirant politicians in our party, who joined Labour Party on the waves of Obidient Movement ever obtained expression of interest form or purchased the nomination form of Thirty Million naira (N30,000,000).
It is naive, callous and smacks of outright indiscipline, insubordination and disloyalty to the party’s Constitution for any self-respecting aspirants to sponsor protests against the party towards the reduction of nomination fee, instead of engaging the party leadership directly and constructively.
It is patinent to note that adoption of ‘abdication syndrome’ by aspiring politicians, engaging in blame games, pretending not to acknowledge that democratic processes is money guzzling amounts to building castes in the air
