Bob Marley can always be found on several Billboard charts with the release that has turned out to be his biggest of all time.
The reggae powerhouse’s Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers performs well enough every week in the U.S. to find space on a number of tallies, but there’s one list where Marley sometimes occupies several spots.
The late musician often claims more than a single position on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart, though that’s not always the case.
Sometimes he fills several rungs with a handful of his popular projects, but in other instances, just Legend holds firm.
This frame, one of his most beloved titles finds its way back to that list once again.
Marley’s Exodus reappears on the Reggae Albums chart this week. The set is back at No. 9 on the list of the most-consumed projects in the genre in the United States.
Exodus has now spent 70 weeks on the Reggae Albums tally. It’s previously climbed as high as No. 3, barely missing out on giving Marley another leader on the list.
This week, Legend is still in charge of the Reggae Albums chart, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who follows Marley or this specific ranking.
The title has ruled for 231 of the 232 weeks it’s been present on the tally.
As it controls the Reggae Albums ranking, Legend is falling or steady on almost every other chart it appears on.
The set slips on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B Albums lists, and it’s a non-mover on both the Vinyl Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums rosters.
Legend does manage to climb on one tally, as people in the U.S. continue to buy the set in large numbers. Marley’s greatest hits set is up three spaces to No. 24 this time around on the Top Album Sales chart.
According to Luminate, the title sold just under 3,500 copies in the past tracking frame, which is up more than 8% from the period before. [forbes.com]
