Leaked Security Reports: IGP Panics, Holds Urgent Security Meeting As Officers Set Date For Strike Over Negligence, Poor Salary Structure Across Nigeria 

NIGERIAN Inspector-General of police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba reportedly held security meeting yesterday to forestall looming strike and protest called by the nation’s police officers to ventilate their frustration over what they tagged ‘neglect, poor living wage and condition of service’.

A copy of the meeting deliberation which took place in the Police Headquarters in Abuja and made available to Trojan.com.ng addresses the issues of “Kits and Accoutrements, Tax Deduction, Payment of New Salary, Strike, Pension, rumors and Keeping of Secret”, amongst others.

The Inspector-General of police, grappling with the grime reality of frustrating conditions of service however encouraged the security operatives to be their best for the nation.

Miffed by lack of definite answers to their requests, a senior police officer told our correspondent in Abuja that the strike would hold across the country as proposed to expose the failure of the Nigerian Government and police authority.

“The Protest and strike beginning from the 23rd of this month will hold as scheduled in designated locations across the thirty six states of the federation with Abuja inclusive.

“We want to know what happened to President Muhammadu Buhari’s promised to increase officers and men salaries since last year and what the government is doing about the neglect and poverty of the police men in the country.

An activist, Comrade Victor Ojei popular known as Wong Box said the police officers’ strike is a welcome development so as to check the security agency’s transfer of aggression on the Nigerian citizens.

“The strike is a welcome development because the politicians and wealthy ones will be hard hit since the police services would be withdrawn from them.

“I pity the women who will be adversely affected as they would be subjected to all kinds of abuse, including rape.
