He said the only challenge facing the Council is the sluggish way of prosecuting offenders.

Ag Chairman of the Council Baffa Babba Dan’agundi stated this while Speaking to News men in the state Capital in his office yesterday .

He said that despite the challenges he met after he returns to the Council, he recorded huge successes by arresting unscrupulous elements that are producing sub standard or counterfeit products within the state.

” We are battling with fertilizer Marketers in Kano, it’s their time now, we have made 11 arrest so far. Evacuating more than 5 trucks of fertilizer which are found to be sub standard from different places.

“Soon we’ll get the Court order for the burning of those items as we did the last time, we burned over hundred trucks the largest ever in the state “.

Other items arrested are Rice, Milk, Spaghetti, flour, palm oil etc.

On the issue of prosecuting the offenders, Dan Agundi said that the law doesn’t spell out huge penalty for those found guilty of commiting any act capable of changing the original composition of goods in the state.

“The problem with the agency is that law doesn’t stipulate heavy penalty for the offenders, it’s very light penalty.

” If it’s a company, they charge them about five hundred thousand as penalty and three or five months imprisonment and or if it’s an individual two hundred and fifty thousand “.

Danagundi therefore, called on the people of the state to desists from any action capable of tarnishing the good image of the state and putting life of innocent Citizens in jeopardy.
