FROM a very reliable source, our Benin City correspondent got the information that one Jefferson Uwoghiren, a lawyer by training and an admin in charge of a WhatsApp platform called Market Place of Ideas, tried unsuccessfully to upstage the current Edo State Commissioner for Information, Chris Nehikhare in a cabinet tussle.
This, we were told happened when the Governor, Godwin Obaseki, sacked all the commissioners a few months ago and reappointed the first class Commissioner in his previous cabinet.
While awaiting new appointments, one leader, whose name we want to keep secret, told Trojan News Media correspondent that the said Jefferson put his name out for the position of commissioner but was rejected by the Governor.
It was gathered that Jefferson went round during the period to beg Orhionmwon leaders to forward his name for the vacant position then. Although many of the elders in the LGA refused, it was learnt that the governor who favours Chris coming back because of his good works in the ministry, does not actually like the said Jefferson, so objected to Chris being removed.
It was discovered that the Governor does not like Jefferson because he is allegedly fighting him using proxy accounts here and there. It was said that the Governor is aware that the said Jefferson allegedly goes about telling some Benin leaders that he has failed as a Governor.
Governor Obaseki is said to be avoiding him because of the role he placed in the last House of Assembly election. The Governor is said to be displeased since Jefferson does not go to court as much as he should.
It was also said that the Governor is not comfortable with him as a member of the Edo State Private Property Protection Committee, our sources disclosed.
