Buhari Reacts To Uzodinma, Ododo’s Victories In Guber Elections

FORMER President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed the victories of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the Imo and Kogi Governorship elections.

Recall that Usman Ododo and Hope Uzodinma were declared as the winners of the November 11 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In Kogi State, Ododo won with 446,237 votes to defeat his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who polled 259,052 votes.

While Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 46,362 votes.

In Imo State, Uzodnma scored 540,308 votes to defeat his closest challenger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes.

In a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Garba Shehu, the former president congratulated the APC on winning the governorship elections in Imo and Kogi.

The former Nigerian leader also thanked the people of the two states for reaffirming their confidence and trust in the nation’s ruling party.

He said: “The former President thanks particularly the party leaders and the workers who laboured tirelessly to ensure the re-emergence of Senator Hope Uzodimma @Hope_Uzodimma1 for his second term in Imo State, and Alhaji Usman Ododo @OfficialOAU as the new Governor of Kogi State.
