EDO GUBER ELECTION: OSHIOMHOLE PREPARES FOR LIFE IN EXILE AS OPINION POLL CALLS IT FOR PDP
FREEPRESS – The outcome of the September 28 governorship election in Edo State, from all indications, is going to be life defining for the incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomhole. According to reliable source, the tempestuous former labour union president turned governor is preparing for the worst case scenario should the PDP win the election.
It is said that towards this end, the governor and leader of the APC in Edo State is frenziedly putting finishing touches to the mansion he purchased in Cape Verde Island for three million dollars, the home country of his wife Iara, whom he married last year.
Adams Oshiomhole is said to be planning to retire into exile, should Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the PDP win the election that has seen the fiercest electioneering campaign since elections began in Edo State, with the governor throwing caution to the wind in his verbal attacks on the PDP candidate and his political associates.
Over the years, since he became governor, Adams Oshiomhole has fought almost all the leaders of the PDP, and at every occasion accusing them of all manner of corrupt practices. In many of these instances, Oshiomhole had turned his political associates and benefactors to foes.
Until late 2014. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu was a political ally of Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Ize-Iyamu was in fact the Director General of Adams Oshiomhole’s reelection campaign in 2012. Indeed, Ize-Iyamu is claimed to be instrumental to Oshiomhole becoming the governor in the first instance. Pastor Ize-Iyamu is reported to have introduced Adams Oshiomhole to the powers behind the AC on which platform he contested the governorship of Edo State in 2007, for which he was declared elected in 2008 after a protracted court case.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu claims he was forced to leave the APC seeing that Oshiomhole had hijacked it. Thereafter, he signified interest in contesting the 2016 governorship election. Oshiomhole since then came up with all manner of accusations bordering on financial impropriety and corruption against Ize-Iyamu in the hope of damaging his governorship ambition. Hard as he tried, he could not make any stick or provide any evidence.
On the other hand, Ize-Iyamu and the PDP have been accusing Oshiomhole of corruption and lack of transparency. The state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih has been on a kind of crusade against Governor Adams Oshiomhole, claiming that he has been involved in shady deals as governor of Edo State. Chief Orbih has in numerous press briefings and campaign trails displayed Edo State government vouchers showing huge sums of money been retired with suspicious narratives. Orbih exposed the monthly withdrawal of N500m for urgent security challenges. In eight years, gov Adams has collected N48b as security vote. In a state were there is no Boko
Haram! He has threatened that the PDP will make Oshiomhole give account of his stewardship after office.
Oshiomhole is said to be in mortal fear of a PDP probe into how he applied the resources of the state, which he has yet to give account of publicly by giving details of the costs of contracts. For this reason he is seeking for asylum in Cape Verde of which by marriage he believes his request will be granted and he will enjoy the protection of the people and Government of the Cape Verde.
Oshiomhole is said to have a sizable investments in Cape Verde and as a favorite InLaw of the tiny country, Adams Oshiomhole intends to enjoy his loot there!
