Burnt Innocent Five In Owan: Group Gives Edo Police 72 Hours To Arrest And Prosecute Perpetrators
A HUMAN Rights Group under the auspices of Talakawa’s Parliament has condemned in the strongest terms, the extra judicial killings of 5 Nigerians allegedly accused of kidnapping in Owan East local Government Area of Edo State by some untrained members of Owan East Vigilante Group .
This was made known at the weekend in a press release signed by the Speaker and Spiritual Leader Marxist Kola Edokpayi and Secretary, Comrade Imasuen Wilson Osawaru.
According to the statement “ The five Nigerians that were later discovered to be labourers were arrested, beaten and burnt to death by some members of local Vigilante Group and hunters who accused the kidnapping suspects of been responsible for the series of kidnapping at Otuo -Afuze Road, Owan East Local Government area even when they were not found with arms allegedly used for the kidnapping operation. we are yet to know the person that was allegedly kidnapped”
They frowned at a situation whereby some members of vigilante Groups who are to supposed to assist the police in combating crime are now arresting and executing suspects without informing the police who is to investigate and charge the suspects to court appropriately for trial.
Talakawa’s parliament described the act of burning five labourers to death as complete genocide and jungle justice which must be pooh-poohed by rational beings.
The call on Governor Godwin Obaseki to set the machinery in place for the training of those who are already bearing arms in the name of vigilante.
They gave the police 72 hours ultimatum to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the horrendous, atrocious, odious, monstrous and satanic act of the killer members of the vigilante groups to served as deterrent to others who want to follow suit as a stitch in time saves nine.
