Abacha, Wali Emerges Kano Factional Candidates

THE Eldest son of Nigerian Military Head of State Late General Sani Abacha Alhaji Mohammed Sani Abacha, , has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)Primary election in Kano State .

The Returning Officer, Barrister Amina Garba, declared Mr Abacha winner after polling 736 votes to defeat his closest rival, Jafa’ar Sani-Bello, who scored 710 votes.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Mohammed Jamu, said the primary election was legally conducted with validly-elected delegates and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, ( INEC,) Police and State Security Service operatives.

It was gathered that the election was supervised by six INEC officials, including the Deputy Director in charge of Election and Party Monitoring at INEC headquarters, Hauwa Hassan; state Admin Secretary, Garba Lawal; Head of Legal Department, Suleiman Alkali; Head of Electoral Operations, Sule Yaro; Head of ICT/Voter Registration, Ocheka Edwin and; Head of Finance and Admin, Hassan Dalhatu.

While the primaries that produced Alhaji Mohammed Sani Abacha was conducted at the state Party Headquarters located at Lugard Avenue, Kano, another parallel primaries is ongoing at the Sani Abacha Youth Center, also in the state Capital.

Our reporter who was also at the venue of the parallel primaries at the Sani Abacha Youth Center reports that voting is still in progress and those participating in the contest at the parallel primaries include Dr Yunusa Dangwani, Yusuf Dambatta, Muaz Magaji, Ibrahim Ali-Amin, Sadiq Wali and Mustapha Getso among others.

Speaking to Leadership one of the aspirants described the election as having passed through all the Democratic procedures and that he will be willing to co operate with the winner for the attainment of maximum result.

In another development the eldest Son of Ambassador Aminu Wali, Alhaji Sadiq Wali has won the factional PDP primaries conducted on Wednesday but announced on Thursday to emerged as the Candidate of the party.

Wali who polled 455 to beat other contestants such as the serial gubernatorial contender Alhaji Ibrahim El Amin Little who scored 322 votes to became second in the race.

Others are Dr Yusuf Adamu Dangwani with 276 votes, Alhaji Mustapha Bala Getso, Alhaji Jafa’ar Sani Bello who polled 25 votes each. While Muhyi Magaji Rimin gado, Engineer Mu’azu Magaji Dan sarauniyya have withdrew from the governatorial contest.

In an interview with some of the aspirants who did not want their names in print described the contest as free and fair and promised to cooperate with the candidate to support him win the general election.
