Some Personnel Colluding With Criminals To Steal Crude Oil – Naval Chief

VICE Admiral Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), has hinted that some personnel are collaborating with criminal elements to sabotage the Nigeria Navy’s efforts to reduce illegal bunkering and crude oil theft in the country.

He made the revelation at the decoration of newly promoted Rear Admirals in Abuja, where he warned that any personnel caught would face the full force of the law.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, who was present at the event, tasked the Navy with eliminating crude oil theft in the country.

A total of 30 Commodores were promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, and each of them was decorated alongside an officer by a member of their family.

During the festivities, the CNS urged them to stay loyal to the President and the country as a whole.

He stated that the Nigerian Navy has made progress in combating illegal bunkering and oil theft. However, Gambo revealed that some personnel are collaborating with criminal elements to sabotage the navy’s efforts.

He warned that any personnel caught sabotaging the navy’s security measures would face harsh penalties and the wrath of the law.

The Nigerian Navy also promoted 25 captains to the rank of Commodore and 72 commanders to the rank of Captain.
