FEC Okays N27.4b For Projects In Works, Housing, FCT

THE Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday approved contracts worth N27.4 billion for projects in the ministries of Works and Housing, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The council also approved the establishment of a Federal University of Health Sciences at Otukpo in Benue State, as well as the raising of a Bill for the enactment of the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire, Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

Ministers Babatunde Fashola (Works and Housing) Mohammed Musa Bello (FCT); Rauf Aregbesola (Interior) and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, gave the breakdowns of the approvals while addressing State House Correspondents yesterday after the week’s virtual FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Fashola said his ministry presented two memoranda, both of which the council approved.

He said FEC approved the appointment of consultants to supervise the ongoing construction of the Bodo-Bonny highway in Rivers State, as well as the construction of the 84-kilometre Idah-Nsukka Road, linking Kogi and Enugu states, “which Council approved for the sum of N26.172 billion, in favour of a joint venture of Messrs. Sajeto Construction and RN Construction”.
