THE people of Ewu Community in Esan Central Local Government Area have condemned in strong terms what they described as political harassment of Pastor Henry Amenkhienan, vowing to stand by him at all times.
The community said the intimidation and harassment the Man of God has been subjected to were all attempts to stifle and undermine his participation in the upcoming Edo governorship election.
In a statement signed by Fidelise Edokpa, National Secretary, Ewu Progress Development on Friday, the Ewu People, they accused certain political actors of orchestrating moves to silence Pastor Amenkhienan and restrict his civil rights.
The statement expressed strong opposition to these actions, calling them “a direct attack on our collective rights as a people.”
The Ewu people made it clear that they would not stand by and watch their rights threatened or taken away, and pledged to use all legal avenues to resist any forms of intimidation or voter suppression.
Furthermore, the community made a passionate plea to relevant government authorities to ensure a peaceful election and safeguard the democratic rights of all Edo citizens.
“The Ewu people called for a transparent electoral process that allows for the free expression of political choices without intimidation or coercion,” the statement further added.
Their position underscores the growing concerns about political interference as Edo State prepares for a highly anticipated governorship election.
