Victim Escapes One-Chance Attack In Lagos By Whiskers, Lost A Million Naira In The Process

A VICTIM who gives his name as Master. Dele Unuigboje Augustine barely escaped with his life on the 28th day of March 2021 at about 7:45 am when he boarded a criminal bus, popularly known as the one-chance bus.

Master Dele narrated his ordeals to our correspondent, thanking God for His mercies and protection for sparing his life.

“I was dressed for church that faithful Sunday morning. I wanted to attend the thanksgiving service of my cousin who just got married a day before (27-03-2021) because I wasn’t chanced to have attended the main event, hence I decided to attend the Thanksgiving service.

“I got to the road from my house, patiently waiting for a bus going to Ikoyi/Obalende. Suddenly a bus which pretends to be going to my direction stopped and asked if I was going to Obalende and I said yes. I then asked how much and the driver said N100 and I entered.

“It was this popular short bus known and address as korokpe in Lagos. When I entered it was just me, the supposed conductor, the driver, and one supposed passenger at the back seat. I wanted to sit at the middle sit but the conductor told me to sit at the back seat with the other passenger and I sat there.

“We had not taken a minute drive and he was asking of money, and this was unlike the Lagos conductor. I gave him N200 expecting change but he said the money I was to pay him is N300 and I was surprised.

“We argue this and he said if I can’t pay the N300 I should come down. The only passenger with us said he should allow me to pay N200 instead but the conductor insisted on collecting N300 and I insisted that am not paying the N300. In split seconds, he holds me and pushes me down the moving vehicle, stealing my phone in the process, unknown to me.

“Immediately I realised that my phone was no longer with me. I stopped the next available bike to trace then since he said he was going to Obalende and at the same time calling my phone number with the bike’s man phone and it was already switched off.

“We trace them to Obalende and we couldn’t find them. It was this time that it done on me that I should deactivate my bank account but before I could locate any available GTB ATM machine they have to make a transaction of #962,000 on my account which reads POS/WEB purchase-EYOWO providus bank Lang

“The transaction was done on four different occasions, N300,000  N300,000 N300,000, #62,000”, Master Dele said.

The incident according, to the victim has been reported at Zone 2, Obalede police station to unmask the criminal gang.
