Society Should Desist Judging Adults In Relationships – Uriel Oputa

Uriel-Oputa

FORMER Big Brother Naija housemate Uriel Oputa has taken a bold stance against societal double standards in relationships, calling out the hypocrisy in how society views relationships between older women and younger men versus older men and younger women.

She argued that women who date younger men are often subjected to age shaming and rejection, while men who date younger women are praised and accepted.

Uriel emphasised that as long as both parties are of legal age, their relationship choices should be respected and not judged.

She believed that love knows no age and that people’s readiness for settlement varies, regardless of age.

She wrote on her Instagram story: “When women Date younger men They get age shamed and rejected. When a man Dates a younger woman The younger woman gets called a Gold digger The man is praised and accepted. Look!! if both parties are of legal age Leave them alone. Love is love.Love is love. I know some 35 to 43 year old men who aren’t ready to settle down. I know a 28 year old man married. As long as both parties are of legal age Let people live”.

Uriel encouraged people to focus on mutual respect, consent, and happiness in relationships, rather than judgment and societal expectations.

“Stop judging others. Life isn’t straight forward like that,” she added.
