ONE Agho Blessing, a known serial blackmailer in Benin City is on the run for blackmailing the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Barrister Julius Abure.
The High Court sitting in Benin City granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Blessing Agho or anyone connected to her from publishing anything on Facebook or other social media platforms against Julius Abure pending the hearing of the suit.
Counsel to Julius Abure, Barrister President Aigbokhan told our Correspondent that after the court order, Agho Blessing continued her trade and a court warrant was issued for her to be arrested as a result.
“Last week Friday she was spotted at the High Court premises but in an attempt to arrest her, she escaped and she was again accosted at the hotel premises where she went to hide but the Area Commander Metro intervened and assured the investigation team not to arrest her and undertake to bring Ms Agho Blessing herself to the police station on 21st August 2023.
“This she has not been able to fulfill thereby impinging the administration of justice.
“The blackmailer began her escapade when she several published in both Facebook and Twitter that the National Chairman of the Labour Party collected money to substitute some candidates of the party.
On 13th September 2022, the Defendant published on her tweeter page that “the Labour Party National Chairman collected bribe from Hon. Ativie to sub-change a candidate’s name to hers.
“She boasted to have paid him millions (she told me this herself)”. On 24th September 2022 the Defendant published on her Facebook page with the theme “DEVELOPING CRISIS” where she wrote:
“The Labour Party Nigeria, Edo State is about to witness an unresolvable crisis…The totolo long throat national chairman collected the sum of N30 Million from Madam Elizabeth Ativie to place her name on the INEC list. Abure will be ignomized out of office eventually.
“By this post, Agho Blessing is claiming that the National Chairman of the party is a thief and that she was personally briefed by Hon. Ativie. All these she has to prove to avoid the civil damages sought against her”, counsel Comrade Julius Abure told journalists in Benin City.
Comrade Abure’s claim against Blessing is the sum of N150, 000,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira Only) being damages for libel against the Defendant and an order for her to retract the malicious tirades against the person of Barrister Julius Abure.
