THE newly posted Kano state Commissioner of Police(CP) Mr. Mamman Dauda has called on Politicians to eschew violence and all other forms of political thuggery in other to have a hitch free election come 2023.
The newly posted Police Commissioner who read the riot act warned politicians not to involved themselves in promoting thuggery and any one found wanting would be dealt with decisively.
CP Dauda made the disclosure on Monday at a Press conference held at Police Officers Mess in Kano, warning that the Command will not tolerate any act of lawlessness during the campaigns.
He called on the youths to be wary of politicians who are desperate to get power at all cost and will use them to cause rancor and acrimony in the state noting that the law is there to get rid of trouble makers.
He added that the security outfit of the Police tagged Anti- Daba,have been well equipped to deal ruthlessly with any individual or group of people who wanted to foment trouble .
According to the CP the Police Command would also hold meetings with political parties to seek their assistance and cooperation on the need to ensure thst they allow peace to reign during their respective Campaigns.
CP Dauda who disclosed this on Monday ,during his maiden press conference at Police Officer Mess in Kano, warned that the Command would tolerate any act of lawlessness during, before and after the elections.
According to him,” everybody has right to vote for whichever political party he or she is interested in voting for without being intimidated or molested by anybody .
Whoever plans to deny the electorate this right the Police Command will not hesitate to bring such an enemies of progress to book .
As part of our preparations for the 2023 general elections, the Command will continue to engage political parties’ leadership to ensure peaceful electioneering processes.
” I assumed duty on the 10th of November, 2022 as the 44th Commissioner of Police of Kano State, and of course the 2023 general election is fast approaching and the political atmosphere is heating up day by day and the police will be on their toes to face any challenge. ”

To achieve this, we will partner with other security agencies in the State and other critical stakeholders including; Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, the judiciary, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Eminent Persons, the Media, Human Rights Groups, Transport Unions, Youth Organizations
