Police SP Of FIB-IRT Unit, Godspower Osagie In Alleged N10 Million Bribe Scandal In Bid To Free Criminal Gang With 11 AK47, Other Dangerous Arms In Edo

MR. Godspower Osagie, a Superintendent of Police (SP) in the IGP’s Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB–IRT) at the Edo State Police Command is currently enmeshed in a controversial plot to abort an ongoing investigation of a criminal gang smashed for gun-running after catchments of 11 AK 47, 1 SMG, 4 Pump-action rifles, 2 double-barrel guns, and one black unregistered BMW X5 Jeep operational vehicle were allegedly recovered from the armed gang.

It’s not immediately verified if the ‘Support Corps’, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari who is the head of (FIB-IRT) nationwide is in the know of the alleged subversion of the criminal investigation in the state.

However, our sources at the Edo State Police Command names withheld confided in Trojan.com.ng that the hardened criminals who should have been taken off the streets of Benin and environs are collaborating with SP Osagie in connivance with the families of the suspects after allegedly collecting ten million Naira (N10,000,000) bribe.

Suppl Osagie, who is the head of Edo State IRT tactical teams is said to have been striving professionally to horribly conclude the investigation and free the armed gang suspects, a process the inside source says will jeopardise coordinated efforts at arresting more suspects and recovering more arms and ammunition in the state.

“This is a very serious intelligence breach being orchestrated by police superintendent officer and head of the IRT in Edo state command Benin city, SP Godspower Osagie who is now compromised with criminals to sabotage ongoing police investigation and arms recovery process in Benin city.

“SP Godspower Osagie has compromised police investigation and is hellbent on thwarting IRTs investigation and arms recovery process in an ongoing investigation of a criminal gang notorious for kidnapping and armed robbery in Benin City and its environs.

“A few of the gang’s members were arrested by the tactical squad of men of the Edo IRT in a successful operation on the 26th of April, 2021, where a remarkable number of arms and ammunition were recovered from the bandits who were said to have acquired these assorted weapons during the #EndSARS protests which have become their tools for committing crimes of various degrees in the state, our source said.

The names of the criminal suspects arrested and others at large were given as Endurance Omorege aka Ajala, who owned up to having 3 AK 47 riffles, 2 pump action guns, and 2 double-barrel guns; Romeo with 2 AK47 rifles, Osakpamwan 2 AK47, Konky 2 AK47. Others are Mitchellee 1 AK47, Destiny 1 AK47, and a beretta, Stanley Osayande was said to be in possession of 1 SMG Rifle and 1 Pump Action gun, and Festus Ekenaiye Edegbe with 1 Barreta pistol, plus ammunition’s recovered, alongside with one black operational vehicle of unregistered BMW X5 Jeep.

Also, one Toyota highlander Jeep was recovered from Endurance Omorege and one Ogbeifun Anthony Osaghale who were arrested in a hotel hideout somewhere in Ekenwan road in Benin city.

Festus Ekenaiye Edegbe contact phone numbers were given as follows; 07045463772, 08130680105, 08103576974, 09038815006, while that of
osakpamwan simply goes as 07056848068.

The source alleged that pressure is being mounted on the investigation officer and his team from highly placed members of the society, including security operatives from both the police force and the Nigerian army to let the criminal suspects of the huck.

“How can Supol Osagie who has never carried out any operations since he becomes the head of the (FIB-IRT) to be pressing for the release of criminal suspects who made useful statements in the presence of their lawyers to provide the remaining arms to be released on bail

When Trojan.com.ng correspondent reached out to SP Godspower Osagie for his comments, he merely gave an evasive response: “Thank you my brother. I would’ve advice you to come down to the office for a better clarification as a journalist with facts before publication. I don’t have the authority to grant any press interview please.

“My brother welldone in case you may not be chance to visit the office now as is urgent .Suspect is under police custody not yet released. Thanks I deeply appreciate your professionalism”, Supol Osagie snapped.
