Owie, in a condolence message, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Dutse Emirate Council, prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Emir.
Recalling their fraternal relationship of over 55 years, Owie said that the Emir’s demise was, indeed, a most profound personal loss.
The ex Senate Whip also extolled the inimitable  contributions of the late Emir to his community, Jigawa and Nigeria, and said that the late royal father would be remembered for his exemplary leadership style, humility and candour.
Owie who recalled his last telephone conversation with the late Emir a few days before his demise, said the late Royal Father was confident that he would pull through and they both agreed to meet in Abuja in early February. This was, unfortunately, not to be.
“The painful demise of the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Sanusi is a profound loss to the Government and People of Jigawa State and the greater Nigerian Nation.
“Emir Sanusi and I were both residents of Room 3, Dan Fodio Hall, Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru Campus between 1968 – 1971. We remained friends and brothers since then.
“The late Emir was a compassionate, generous, patriotic and selfless leader, who used his position to advance the common good.
“He was passionate about the growth and progress of his Emirate and demonstrated abiding immense convictions and indestructible faith in the unity and greatness of Nigeria and the Nation’s destiny in shaping global affairs.
“A friend to both bourgeoisie and the proletariat, he remained  a rallying point for his contemporaries and the younger generation,’’ Owie said.
The Distinguished Senator prayed to Allah to make Al-Jannah Firdaus the final abode for his departed Brother,   Emir Sanusi.
