NYIF: NYCN Urges Youth Ministry To Sustain Equitable, Transparent Disbursement

THE National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has urged the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sorts Development to sustain the transparent approach it has adopted in administering the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) while commending the Federal Government, the Ministry the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the other organizations involved in the disbursement of the youth focused loans.
In our independent investigation, NYCN confirmed that in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive, under the first phase disbursed by the NIRSAL Microfinance Bank, 5,285 beneficiaries got soft loans with a total value of N1,661,370,000.00. The amount represents 55.38% of the N3 billion provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the first phase.
It was also discovered that over 20,000 youth entrepreneurs have scaled through screening and will be trained before the next round of disbursement.
The NYCN leadership subsequently observed that the disbursement has been very transparent and done equitably without fear or favour.
For the thousands of Nigerian Youth that have filled the form and are yet to get the loan. While we appeal for patience, NYCN charges all agencies involved in the exercise to up their operations to accommodate more youths.
It became imperative for NYCN to carry out its independent investigation because of mischievous allegations made by one impostor, Solomon Adodo parading as President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
It is important to note that, the High Court of Federal Capital Territory,  judgment delivered by Justice O. A. Musa on 12th, August 2020 suit number FCT/HC/BW/CV/181/2020 and a judgement by Court of Appeal presided over by Justices Stephen Jonah Adah, Yargata Byenchit Nimpar and Mohammed Baba Idris in suit number CA/A/701/2020 on 16th February, 2021 confirmed that having been duly elected in accordance with NYCN constitution, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo remains President of the council.
Only recently, in Cross River state capital, Calabar, the NYCN supreme organ, National Congress, at its Extral Elective Congress on 19th to 21st September 2021 affirmed and authenticated the genuine leadership of the apex Nigeria youth body.
The leadership of the council has on several occasions dissociated itself from Adodo and his group, who are political jobbers without virtue, and known scavengers. The general public is therefore advised not to fall victim of their dubious act.
NYCN also wishes to inform and remind the general public that recently a Magistrate Court in Zuba, Federal Capital Territory, presided over by Hon. Abdullahi Ilelah remanded the impostor, Solomon Adodo in Suleja Correctional Centre for a week over alleged impersonation, inciting public disturbance and forgery continue.
As we speak Adodo is currently facing criminal trial before the Magistrate Court in Zuba, Federal Capital Territory and his trying to drag unsuspected members of the public into his unlawful activities.
We also gathered that National Commandant of Peace Corp Nigeria (PCN), Dickson Akoh is allegedly bankrolling Adodo and others to divide Nigerian youths, discredit the federal government’s effort and blackmail all National stakeholders for the PCN bill to become an act.
The NYCN charges members of the National Assembly to reject the PCN bill in its entirety, warning that the organisation is currently been used as a platform to mobilize the youths against government programmes, policies and projects across the country.
Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo. President, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN);
Secretary, NYCN Board of Trustees.
