Nigeria @60: Let’s Dissolve The Contraption At Its Retirement Age By Erasmus Ikhide

GENERAL Muhammadu Buhari and his coterie of lame dancers who are rolling out the drums for Nigerian Sixieth Independence Anniversary celebration today know the futility and foolhardiness of such macabre dance on the graves of the perished Nigerian masses. All the pretences and chants about “One Nigeria” – the hollow nationalistic scale drabed on the faces of the citizens – while secretly debasing “The Nigerian Project”, at the same promoting ethnic agenda, have fallen off.
Nigeria is a concentration camp where only General Buhari’s inmates in Aso Rock Rock’s lunatic asylum are unaware of the coming anarchy!
General Buhari terrorism-embracing government has knowingly pushed the nation off the cliff. We’re at the tipping point, unknown to us. The highest investment Buhari has made so far since he became president in 2015 is the enhancement and emboldening of insecurity in the northern part of the country where he comes from.
While investing billions of naira to rehabilitate thousands of “repented” bloodlust Boko Haram terrorists, the group become more daring and deadly; taking hostages, abducting citizens in their hundreds, burning villages and cities, slaughtering people and killing soldiers, daily.
An adage in my part of the world suffices in Nigerian traumatic voyage: “the day you elect to victimised your enemy unjustly is the day you undone yourself”. Now, the entire northern Nigeria is in turmoil, only left to be completely engulfed in flames, virtually. General Buhari who hardly visits his home town in Daura, Katsina State as a result of insecurity is one of the states in northern Nigeria with the highest numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
This has resolved any further question about Nigeria being a huge concentration of a scary cannon that could burst into flame any time, any day.
At 60, Nigeria is battered by economic woes, debased by insurgents, pummeled by poverty; having been designated as the headquarters and world capital of poverty. While the masses are striving to extricate themselves from the stranglehold of years of affliction and penury, General Buhari and his APC government compounded the nation’s sorrow. With the tacit connivance of the central labour organisation, the president slammed arbitrary increases of fuel pump price, electricity tariff and personal and value added taxes on Nigerians in the the midst of COVID-19 pandemic!
General Buhari’s outlandish approach to governance calls for soul-searching conundrums: Why is it that reasonable and rational leaders globally are elevating the living standards of their citizens, yet General Buhari and his bigoted government of nihilist is pedantic to vanquish the failed state on a permanent basis? Why is General Buhari vicious and invidious as an agent of decimation in a nation that needs reformist and a redeemer? What effort has he made in the last 6-year to chart a new course for the country and the leprous Northern Region?
Buhari has wasted 6-year without a single plan to reposition the country or take serious decision that would have changed how the northerns view western education, which is the cause of Boko Haram insurgency. A child born six years ago would have been twelve years in six years time. As I write, those six years old kids born under General Buhari Presidency are already begging for bread on the streets of Northern Nigeria. By then, they would have dropped the begging bowls and grabbed the guns!
As at today Katsina State alone has over 630,000 Nigerian citizens who had fled the state to Niger Republic, seeking permanent residency. Buhari’s wife, Aisha publicly cried out some two years ago about the endemic state of insecurity in Katsina and the astronomical numbers of displaced persons in the state. APC blindfolded media handlers have been racing against themselves over the actual numbers of destitute and displaced persons without solutions to the self-afflicted crisis.
The quest for Nigeria dissolution is rife and trending like harmatan fire across the country. It’s time for referendum so that Nigeria can expire in one peace. Those clamouring for the contraption called Nigeria continued existence are the ones profiting from the behemoth of a nation where they did not sow. The call has called for urgent mobilization.
A child born sixty years ago still stuttering or unable to walk must be confined to a permanent wheelchair. Nigeria is more of a case of 60-year man who should duly be retired at 60. We earnestly pray that Nigeria unbounded, as quickly as possible!
