N43 Million Fraud In AAU, Ekpoma: Dr Aghemelo’s Plan To Relocate To United Kingdom Exposed … University Tasked To Take Proactive Step

THE Authorities of the state-owed Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma  have been tasked to take some urgent necessary drastic steps to forestall the plan by the embattled Dr. Austin Aghemelo to escape justice over his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of the University’s funds, running into millions of naira.
Trojan.com.ng gathered that Dr. Aghemelo is already in contact and discussion with some persons at home and abroad in order to relocate from Nigeria to the United Kingdom as a result of the financial fraud rocking the University Revenue Generating Unit.
Dr. Aghemelo was until recently the Chairman of the University Revenue Generating Unit. He was removed and the Unit disbanded by the University Administration, following reports and petitions of massive embezzlement of university funds as a result of collection of university revenues without corresponding remittances of the revenues to the bank accounts of the university.
Trojan.com.ng had reported that well over N43 million is said to have been allegedly diverted by Dr. Aghemelo for which the University Administration had constituted a 5-man Administrative Panel to probe Dr. Aghemelo’s tenure in the University Revenue Generating Unit.
Investigation by Trojan.com.ng revealed that the 5-man Administrative Panel headed by Prof. A. O. Onigbinde of the Department of Biochemistry which was constituted on 24th February, 2022, is finding it difficult to meet as a result of the on-going strike in public universities in the country.
Apart from the reported intense lobby and pressure by Dr. Aghemelo’s recruited personalities to cover up the monumental fraud, Trojan.com.ng gathered yesterday that there is a grand plan or move by Dr. Aghemelo to relocate to the United Kingdom to escape justice.
Dr. Aghemelo is said to have already established contact and discussion with some persons, including one Prof. Tunde Agara for urgent assistance to pervert justice by relocating to the United Kingdom with the proceeds of the alleged fraud.
Prof. Agara, currently in the United Kingdom, is a close colleague in the Department of Political Science of the University. In fact, Prof. Agara was removed as the Head of Department of Political Science last week.
Stakeholders in the university expressed concern yesterday over this development and urged the University Administration to take proactive action to frustrate Dr. Aghemelo’s alleged plan to escape to the United Kingdom.
