Lecturers Petition JAMB Registrar, Prof. Oloyede, To Tinubu, Education Minister

THE registrar of the Joint Admission Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has been petitioned to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Education minister, Hon. Tahir Mamman, alleging that he “ seems to have compromised relevant sections of the extant laws of JAMB”, thus questioning why he remained silent on the illegal admission (without admission letters) and matriculation of over ten regular cadets courses, raising the issue of jeopardizing the futures of the students, who had been admitted since December, 2023.

A reminder to the first petition said to have been written on the same issue, to the President and the Education minister, dated 7th May, 2024 and signed by Dr. Moses Ichongo Ukeh (North) and Dr. Goddy Osa Igbaekemen (South), and on behalf of the Police Academy Community, Wadil, Kano, both petitioners, who are academic staff members of the Police Academy, Kano, demanded that Prof Oloyede speak out and not cover up the illegal admission and matriculation of the students, stating further that they were both determined to drag JAMB and the Education ministry to the law court, in order to serve as deterrence to other culprits.

The petition, which was also copied to some other relevant authorities, further questioned as to what would be the future the children and whether were they to quash or condone illegal admission by the Commandant (sic) and AIG Sadiq Abubakar, and cohorts in open disregard to a court injunction restraining them?

The petition also regretted that the same AIG Sadiq Abubakar also conducted illegal matriculation exercise for over 700 of the candidates of the Cadets, with many others still reporting after the matriculation.

The two dons added that the school does not have the capacity and facity to cope with the illegal numbers of students, and further condemned the Commandant for having succeeded in deceiving the Inspector General of Police, Cadets, Parents and the public over the true situation of things.

“Sir, we demand to know thus far, the level of your intervention to the our previous letters dated 10th and 30th, January 2024, requiring your office to checkmate JAMB to ensure that due process is being followed in the interest of the Cadets, Parents, Critical stakeholders and the Academic Community”
