There were reports that the rank and file of the police planned to commence a nation-wide strike action on March 26 to protest condition of service.

Although the police high command have not officially reacted to the purported planned strike, Inspector-General (IG) Alkali Usman had since last week sent messages across to assure the aggrieved personnel that their concerns were bring addressed.

Advising those under her command, CP Longe said any act that would further damage the reputation of the police would not be tolerated.

She also informed them about IG’s efforts on the immediate computation of salaries under the new structure, tax reliefs for police operatives, among other welfare packages.

She urged them to be alive to their responsibilities because any act of disloyalty from them could embolden criminals who vandalise railway assets.
