Islamic Development Bank, Others To Help Nigeria Over Come Out of School Children Challenge

PRESIDENT of the Islamic Development Bank Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al -Jasser has said that the bank will do everything possible together with other stake holders to help Nigeria over come the Challenge of out of School Children.

Dr Jasser made the disclosure during a Press Conference held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano yesterday.

According to the President Nigeria unlike other nations is facing a serious problems relating to the out of School Children which needed concerted effort of all to solve.

He said the bank would be determine to invite stakeholders from different walk of lives to come forward and assist Nigeria overcome not only the out of School Children issue but educational sector as a whole holistically.

” we at the Islamic development bank use to give education high premium. And that is why we are in high level discussions with Senior government officials over the burning issue, this is something that has to do with many Countries of the world and Nigeria won’t be an exception”

Jasser who said this is the first time he was visiting the sub hararan Africa and Nigeria in particular purposely to come and see things for himself since the bank started its operation in the African continent.

He said he had sat with the Vice President Yomi Osinbanjo in Abuja and held fruitful discussions with him especially on issues bordering on development projects, same visit was extended to the Kano Deputy governor, Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

So far the IsDB President said the total investment of the bank in Nigeria stood at one point Eight billion Naira, over the years, and about Nine Hundred and Seventy one million projects are financed by the bank itself.

Others according to the president include two hundred and Eighty Eight projects that were handled by the Private Sector, while under the ICD program Four hundred and Seventy Seven Millions in trade operations and another Ninety million USD was expended by other trade insurance arm.

He said the bank equally invested huge amount of Money under the Kano State Agro Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) where Ninety point zero million USD was sunk.

The KSADP project he said would among others include developing agro Pastoral Production system in the state, investing on livestock value Chain, such as Milk, Meat, and crops like Soybean, Maize, Millet among others.

The President said the bank also sponsored projects executed and delivered are Repair works of Watari Irrigation Scheme, Livestock Vaccination Campaign 2021, and 2022, where a sum total of one million five Hundred and Seventy, three and twenty Cattles as well One million three hundred and fifty Seven thousand Six Hundred and fourthy one Sheeps and goats were vaccinated.
