Edo Indigenous People’s Movement worldwide alias EPIA, a nonprofit and nongovernmental indigenous movement has urged the Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki not to abandon the Gelegele Seaport electoral campaign project as it would broaden the state’s economic horizon.
The group called on the Governor not to lose focus on the plans to revamp the Galegale seaport but continue to strive for collaboration with the Federal government to upgrade Benin International Air and railway development with the help of international governments that are ready to assist in that direction.
The group encourages the Governor to ensure he’s able to carry out at least two of these projects before the end of his tenure four-year, “as it appears that the government of Godwin Obaseki is gradually falling asleep on the above projects”, the group’s press statement made available to Trojan.com.ng reads in part.
They reminded the Governor that more than 30 percent of Edo Indigenous people are currently residing in the Western World and “it will be very important for our dear state to achieve this within the next three years”.
The convener and founder/president of the movement, Chief Dr. Bishop J O E Edokpolo said Edo State government would be the ultimate beneficiary because jobs will be created for the people; standard of living will be improved upon, the government will collect more taxes from the workforce and crime rates will be reduced considerably.
