THE Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has allegedly placed Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State under its watchlist for allowing his company, Afrinvest to be used to syphon to the treasury of Anambra State while Governor Willie Obiano, the immediate past Governor of state was in the saddle for eight years.
EFCC sources told trojan.co.ng that apart from aiding corruption in Anambra State, it is against the constitution of Nigeria for holding such elected position or appointment at the same using your company to carry contract transactions.
”This is similar to the case of the former Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal in the infamous N500m Grass Cutting contract scandal where his company was used to execute it and everyone is aware that Mr Lawal is still facing trial”, he said.
