KANO state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has finally approved the sacking of the Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.
The dismissal is coming five Months after the Kano State House of Assembly recommended for his immediate sack from his position as Chairman of the Commission.
The letter, captained letter of dismissal, dated January 24, 2023 was signed by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji.
The letter reads in parts: “Following the resolution adopted by the Kano State House of Assembly at its setting held on Monday 26 July 2022, (16, Zuhijja, 1442AH) calling on the state government to, with immediate effect remove you as the executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission on account of some alleged offences,
I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of your dismissal from your position of the Executive Chairman, Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission with immediate effect.
“The dismissal in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law 2008 as amended. Accordingly,
you are hereby formally issued with dismissal letter.”It would be recall that the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday, July 16, 2022 at its sitting recommended to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to sack the suspended Chairman of the state Anti-corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.
The state House of Assembly shuns a Court Order restraining it from taking any further action against the suspended Chairman of the State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
At the sitting Presided by the House Speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, passed five resolutions on the issue.
Addressing journalists shortly after plenary, the Majority Leader, Labaran Abdul Madari, said the House committee investigating the case against the suspended Chairman was given two weeks to conduct its finding which it has done and report submitted.
Madari said the report of the committee was accepted after a debate on the floor and the House adopted the use of section 6 of the Anti-corruption law 2010 that empowers the house to recommend to the governor the sacking of the suspended Chairman.
He said the second resolution was for the State Police Commissioner to arrest the suspended Chairman for presenting fake Medical report to the House and prosecute him.
’The Accountant employed by the suspended Chairman that is on grade level 04 should be dealt with in accordance with civil service rule.
,’the majority leader said.‘’The fourth resolution was that the rejected accountant posted to the commission by the state Accountant General should resume work at the commission.‘’
The Majority leader also said an ad-hoc committee has been instituted to probe the financial activities of the Commission since 2015 to date.
Confirming the development to Newsmen on phone, the immediate past Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado said he was served with the letter today (Wednesday), January 25, 2023 at exactly 7:12pm.
Barrister Rimingado, however, said “as far as I am concerned this letter will not cause any injury to me because there is already a Court judgment which in that respect.
The court ruled that ” the government cannot sack me without given me a fair hearing in the whole saga. And up till this time that I am speaking with you, Kano state government did not give me any fair hearing as far as this matter is concerned”
. “So, all I can say is that even though I was served with a dismissal letter, I still stand by the Court judgment. And this development will never deter me from my political activities because the letter, to my understand was meant to distract me from my political activities .
