Ganduje Annointed Deputy Gawuna As His  Successor, By ABDULLAHI Rabiu, Kano

KANO State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has annointed his Deputy Dr Nasir Yusuf Gawuna to succeed him as tbe next governor of the state for 2023 governorship election.
The  choice was made at a stakeholders’ Meeting presided over by  Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over the weekend.
According to reports the stakeholders were also said to have agreed that the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sulen Garo, should be the running mate for Gawuna in the election.
It was gathered that it took intervention of elders of the party and elder statesmen in the state to prevail on Garo to step down for Gawuna., who is believed to have the control of the party structure at the local government levels.
And was seen as the preferred candidate of the wife of the governor, Professor Hafsat  Umar Ganduje who have a say in who   become what in the state.
The incumbent governor had served as the deputy of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso during the two terms he governed Kano.
Kwankwaso had endorsed Ganduje to take over from him, but the duo fell apart shortly after the 2015 elections.
If Gawuna wins the 2023 election, the tradition of deputy governor succeeding their Principals would have been maintained in Kano’s recent political history.
Also, sources said Abdullahi Ganduje is expected to pick Senatorial seat nomination form and expression of interest on Monday.
The Senatorial seat of Kano North where Abdullahi Umar Ganduje wants to contest is currently occupied by Barau I. Jibrin whom many see as a grassroots politician and defeating will mean a serious task to his opponent .
He belongs to the G-7 faction of the APC in Kano state and their group lost their case at the  Supreme Court the  government side headed by Dr Ganduje had an upper hand
