FG To Commission Multi Billion Naira Kano Galaxy ITC Centre Soon – Minister

THE Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isah Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said that the federal government will soon commission the Multi billion Naira Phase two Galaxy Broad Band in Kano state in order to give Nigerians free access to information, technology Services .

Pantami made the disclosure on Sunday during an inspection tour of the facility in Kano.

” i am here in Kano today to inspect this gigantic project being implemented by the Galaxy back bond Ltd . Which is a Federal government Company as part of the initiative of President Muhammadu Buhari administration to ensure that it provides ITC Services to our Citizens”

The Minister reveals that the Previous administration had executed what we called Nective One the National Information and Communication back bond One which covers most of the states in the Southern part of the Country.

He said this was in the pipeline and the Buhari government is in the process of completing Nective two which covers the Northern part of the Country.

” You see part of this Nective two is this tier four Data Center in Kano . We have another one in the Southern part of the Country and another in Federal Capital Territory Abuja. Interestingly this Data four Centre will serve as Regional Office of the Galaxy Back Bond Ltd. ”

Pantami stated further that the Data Centre Storage Capacity is been implemented in phases and the first phase is 0.7 Petabite and there is scope for expansion when the need arises. We built it based on the demands of our Citizens and based on the demands of our Customers, because once you build a big one without demand, then maitainanance and sustainability will be the Challenge .

He said ” when our Customers increase geometrically we have provision to increase immediately without any delay so this is what we have in stalk for the First, Second, and third phases.

While commenting on the role of the Digital Economy Centre the Minister said ” its our responsibility to provide Services and give adequate support to our Security institutions when the need arises. We provide our services for them and sanitise SIM Cards Data, NIN, SIM Registration not for our own benefit but for our Security institutions leverage on and improve on the nation’s Security” .
