Dala Inland Dry Port If Fully Harness, Will Boost Government Revenue, Says Bawuro

THE Chairman Dala Inland Dry Port in Kano Alhaji Abubakar Sahabo Bawuro has said that the port will serve as a verys good source of genera revenue for the federal government if properly managed.

Bawuro maintained that the idea of citing the Port in the most populous state in the Country and Commercial hub of the North is to ease ways of doing business.

The Chairman made the disclosure when he welcomed the newly posted Deputy Comptroller of Customs Alhaji Mohammed Sani Umar officer inchahrge of the port said it will help reduce the rate of unemployment in the Country.

He said ” this is a historic moment for us at Dala inland Dry port as we received the Deputy Comptroller in our midst . We have been yearning for a day like this when the Custom Service would set their foot at the port as their presence would kick start business activities at the Port expeditious.”

Bawuro said as management team they felt very much relieved with the coming of Customs at the port because it will pave way for every aspiring business men and women to have confidence in patronising the port henceforth.

On his part, the Managing Director of the Port Alhaji Ahmed Rabiu who took round the newly posted Custom officer round the edifice urged him to see himself as member of the port family as from today.

The Deputy Comptroller was taken round all the sensitive Units at the Port especially the gate, Stacking Unit, Ware house, Administrative block where his office was shown to him , the Rail Area among others .

Responding the Deputy Comptroller of Customs Alhaji Mohammed Sani Umar expressed happiness and described the warm welcome given to him as something he will never forget in his life.

He said the Dala Inland port is among the best ports in Nigeria today due to the standard work done ” in the thirty one years of my sojourn as a Custom officer i have never seen a befitting edice like this port hoping that it would stand the test of time.

Umar promised to do everything possible to make sure that business began in earnest said the idea is “how to creat sound revenue sources for the state and reduce the burden of going to Lagos for by our local business men from the north to clear their goods.
