ALUMNI of the Bayero University Mass Communication Association (BUMCAA) is organising Annual Anniversary Lecture in commemoration of its 40th years of existence coming up on Saturday 12 – February, 21, at the Convocation Arena of BUK New site.
 Personalities such as the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who graduated in 1984, is going to to be the Royal Father of the day, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives Honourable, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a graduate of 1990, is also expected to be at the occasion, while Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi a 1981 graduate and former President Advertising Practioners Association of Nigeria APCON, will be the guest Speaker .
Making the disclosure during a Press briefing to unveiled the preparedness of the association to accomplished this onerous task, Chairman of the Organising Committee Dr Abubakar Shehu Minjibir said the lecture was organised by the Association to mark it’s 40th Anniversary since it’s inception to date .
He said BUMCAA came into existence as result of the forsight of some former Students of Mass Communication Department who gave it a second thought to came up with an association that would served as a plartform where all those who underwent a course of study under the Mass Communication Department starting from Diploma up to Phd. Levels will come under one umbrella and register as members . As well as chart a course for progress and development which will be beneficial to all.
Dr Minjibir who went into Memory lane said the Mass Communications department had produced many credible Nigerians who have excelled in different fields of human endeavor within and outside the Country.
” As part of the activities line up some prominent members of the Association would be expected to come and deliver lectures on selected Professional topics of interest.”
He gave some of the names as Alhaji Bello Kankarofi Former President of the Advertising Practioners Association of Nigeria, Hajiya Sa’a Ibrahim DG ARTV who did her Master’s degree in the department, Alhaji Muktar Zubairu Surajo, National President NIPR. Malam Yushe’u Abdulhameed, Professor Hajara Umar Sanda, among other Speakers .
While enumerating some of the achiements in the Department said half of the lecturers used to come from the English department which is not the case now, there where Eleven Steel Cameras, Eighteen Tape Recorders, and now digitilized equipment have replaced all the make shift TV mounted on Tripod stand. in order to move with time.
