IN what is coming as a really shocking development, Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Wednesday have kidnapped some students during an attack on a private university in Kaduna state in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The private university attacked by the unknown Gunmen is identified as Green Field University and is located along the Kaduna–Abuka Highway in Chikun Local Government Area. DAILY GIST gathered that a security officer in the institution was reportedly killed during the attack while the actual number of students abducted by the Gunmen is yet to be revealed as at the time of filing this report.
Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan also confirmed the incident to Newsmen The fresh attack has caused serious tension among the students.
It was gathered the incident is the first major attack that bandits will launch on communities around the Kaduna-Abuja Highway since 300 female soldiers were deployed to the general area in January this year. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen stormed the university last night and started shooting sporadically, before taking some of the students away.
Reliable sources also revealed that the university with about forty thousand student population does not have enough security on the ground, despite being located in one of the epicenters of kidnapping, a situation which they believe made it easier for the bandits to gain easy access into the institution.
