THE Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Borno State branch, has commended the management and staff of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its laudable and inclusive programmes aimed at touching the lives of the people without discrimination.
The State Chairman of CAN, Bishop John Bakeni, made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Alhaji Goni Alkali and his staff yesterday in Maiduguri.
“We are here to appreciate your policy of openness and fairness which ensured that all religious organizations were treated equally and fairly in the distribution of social amenities and other food and non- food palliatives.
“We equally acknowledge the provision of two (2) Solar Powered Boreholes and 50 Street Lights to Borno CAN by the Commission, we assured you our willingness to work together with the NEDC. We have come here as a body just to say thank you and to encourage you and the Commission for the beautiful work you are doing.
“We thank the Federal Government for seeing it necessary to establish such a strategic organization to ensure reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region affected by insurgency “. Bishop Bakeni said.
He then prayed for the Management and Staff of the Commission to prosper in their efforts in achieving the mandate for which the NEDC was established.
Reacting, the MD/CEO Goni Alkali who received the delegation, expressed appreciation for the visit and promised to sustain the interventions to all religious bodies in order to actualise the mandate of the Commission.
