….. As Police parades dismissed soldier over murder, 96 others in Borno

THE Nigerian Army has inaugurated a new Theatre Training School and upgraded an existing one in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of efforts to enhance its combat effectiveness and tackle the Boko Haram insurgency.
Theatre Commander, OPHK, Maj-Gen Waidi Shuaibu, made this known at the graduation ceremony of the newly commissioned school in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Saturday.
This is as the Borno State Police command has arrested a dismissed soldier and his accomplice over the alleged murder of Keke Napep rider and snatched the machine, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Shuaibu explained the need for adaptability and rapid training in the face of evolving security threats, saying, “Our troops need to be able to adapt quickly and train others to do the same. We can’t afford to be caught flat-footed by these terrorists.”
According to him, the new facilities are designed to equip Nigerian troops with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle Boko Haram, bandits, and other security threats. The training will focus on human rights and the rules of engagement, to ensure that Nigerian troops are not only effective but also responsible.
Top military officials attended the commissioning ceremony, praising Shuaibu leadership and vision in enhancing the army’s training capabilities. The development is a significant step forward in the Nigerian Army’s quest to become a world-class fighting force.
The upgraded training facilities will provide a more conducive learning environment, with state-of-the-art equipment and experienced instructors. The army is sending a clear message to the terrorists: we’re coming for you, and we’re going to win.

In another development, Borno State Police command has arrested a dismissed soldier and his accomplice over the alleged murder of Keke Napep rider and snatched the machine, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, paraded the suspects on Saturday alongside 96 other suspects, alleged to have committed various offences.
Daso said the two suspects requested the deceased, one James Luka, to convey them from Dubai area to Shagari low-cost area, where they killed him.
“After luring the victim to an unknown location behind Shagari low-cost, they removed a knife and stabbed him in the stomach, which led to his death. They later took the body of James Luka, 20 years of age, and buried him in a shallow grave.
“After preliminary investigation, on the 6th August, the command was abled to arrest the suspects while the body was found and exhumed with help of other security agencies and handed over to the family for proper burial rites,” he added.
Responding to questions from newsmen, one of the suspect, Simon Buba, who said that he was a dismissed soldier confessed that they lured to deceased to the secluded location where one of them, now at large, stabbed him to death.
Meanwhile, other suspects that include 7 Social media instigators,
7 persons that hoisted Russian flags and 83 other violent protesters were arrested at various locations.
“Thy vandalized public infrastructure and private property, caused mischief by fire, rioting, theft and looting of items.
“Some of the significant vandalisation was the looting of office and food items of WFP warehouse at Baga road, removal of interlocks, destruction of flower vases, street lights and pedestrian bridge barricades at Bulunkutu, Lagos street, Baga road and Gwange,” he added.
He urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities within their domain or area of residents to police or other security agencies, adding that the command will remained committed to ensure public peace and security.
