DURING a live broadcast on Arise Television, Rufai Oseni, a prominent anchor, made a passionate appeal to the leading candidate for the September 21 Edo State gubernatorial election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, asking him to encourage his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to engage with the media.
Oseni’s plea came after Okpebholo repeatedly avoided appearing on live programs, allegedly due to his struggles with communicating effectively in English and a lack of compelling ideas on governance.
Rufai Oseni, while interviewing Dr. Ighodalo on Monday, urged, “Please also tell your opposition from the APC (referring to Senator Monday Okpebholo) to also come and talk just like you. Please, that is all we ask for.”
Oseni further expressed his frustration on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, tweeting, “Today, Asue was on Arise today; can the APC candidate come to Arise also?”
In a follow-up post, Oseni revealed a surprising twist, stating, “As a media person, I called out the APC candidate in Edo State to come on air, and he asked me for 1 million dollars. But I have also called out LP and PDP candidates, and they are ready to come on air.”
